Final table tips Empty Final table tips

Post  RWPKRPLR1 Sat Aug 03, 2013 3:37 pm

I need some advise on playing final tables. Every time I fire up the $2's, I am making a final table or two, but failing hardcore when I get there.

TBH when I get to a final table I'm usually mid to low stack. when I'm mid stack I tend to tighten right up because of the shorties in play. How should I be playing if I'm a mid stack? Or should I just play as I would during the rest of the tourney? Need some tips!

Thx

I don't play mtt's anymore ( but getting the urge to play some lately) but the last mtt final table I played which was a 2 dollar tournament I do believe everyone was so scared and saying they were nervous and I was thinking ya baby this is awesome!Very Happy

I say just keep playing your game, if their are shorties that is even better IMO but if like above everyone is folding lot's, be the aggressive one and pick up some blinds. Don't think about the payouts, think about keep making good decisions.Cool

Thx for the advice. It's more so the ICM implications and me not knowing how to adjust, Which clogs my thought process. Its me trying to be perfect.

Also this may be a good time to ask about final table deals as I was watching actyper on the ftops final table last night the final 2 started to discuss a deal, you are able to see the deal screen and the numbers but it was a lil complex IMO. They had icm chop, or chip chop and something else I want to ask actyper on his thoughts were regarding this but don't really want to go back on that "other" forum anymore.

Here is blondefish's response:

I don't know about scummy FTP, but I think that PartyPoker uses the inferior Proportional Chip Count Formula instead of ICM. In general, I won't accept a deal that's below ICM. If I'm the biggest stack (or 1 of them), then I gladly accept the default deal. If I'm among the shortest stacks, the default undervalues short stacks so I would offer a number that is at least as high as ICM.

Just like when I won first place at the Casino Employees Event & Casino Rama, if the other players are desperate to make a deal, one can get much more than ICM.

It might but you a little to hear be we really don't want to approach the problem like this. I understand that many players post threads like this and there is always big discussion by mediocre players.

We are to make the most optimal decisions. All this talk where someone labels their post "final table strategy" is usually just fluff.

A shove is a shove, a min raise is a min raise.

There is ICM to deal with but that comes as a natural result of playing and understanding how to play good poker.
