Bankroll/Multitabling

Post  RWPKRPLR1 on Sat Jan 26, 2013 5:21 am

I have cross posted this on here and TPE for answers

About a month ago I was refered to this article about MTT Bankroll Management, http://www.tournamentpokeredge.com/mtt-bankroll-guidelines-and-game-selection-tips/ . This article has been very helpful in my attempt to restructure my game, but it doesnt cover multi tabling, so this is why I'm asking.

I have used the info in this article to help create rules based on my tolerance's. Right now my rules are 50 buyins for STT's, 100 buyins for 18,27 & 45 PLR SNG's and 250 for 180 PLR SNG's and Large Field MTT's. If I were to play a mix of low field SNG & 180's and up my rule 175 buyins.

Right now I grind 4 tables at once, but my ultimate goal is to be a full time Mulit tabling MTT Grinder(12x tables). I just don't know the math on how to up the number of tables while moving up in stakes. Should I continue to 4 table while moving up, add tables when I get to the MTT level I'm wishing to be at or should I start adding tables when I'm at the lower limits, then move up? The main reason I'm confused is this…

Let's say you have $150 online and you want to 4 table while playing. Based on my rules I should be playing 4- $1.50 18-45 PLR SNG's. This equals out to 4% of your bankroll. Now if we have the same BR and want to 6 Table, we should be still be playing $1.50 18-45 PLR SNG's, but now this represents 6% of your BR. If we want to start adding $3.50 BI's into the mix, with 4 tabling you should add a $3.50 in at $200($1.50x3 & a $3.50), with 6 tables you should add a $3.50 into the mix at about the $180 mark. This makes no sense to me because we are using more of our bankroll when 6 tabling!?!?

Can someone please explain where I'm going wrong or what I need to add to fill in the gap in my BR system.

Thank you,
Ryan

I don't know what you are trying to say yet. First you talk about how much you need to play then you start saying what % or your roll it is? Not sure what your saying here?

Lol I was really tired when I posted that..

Kinda wondering what BR rules you have for Multitabling? What % of your BR can you use if you're going to fire up 12 games at once? Is it 1%, 2%, 4%, 6% or does it matter?

What I was asking earlier was, which road should I take...

A) stay at the limit I'm at and increase the number of tables there, then when I reach my goal of 12 tables, start to move up in stakes

B) 4 table while moving up limits, then when I start playing larger field MTT, Start adding in tables as my BR grows.

I hope this is a little clearer to you, thank you for being patient with this dummy lol

We want to work on our A game to improve our C game, so we should spend time 1 tabling a lot and sometimes can spend time multi tabling lower stakes, I dont know about complex br management,

Great response, as always! Makes sense, I will continue to work on my A game with minimal tables open. Later in time things will just fall into place.

LOL some of my bad habits still come out at times. (No Need to Rush!)

Tips on multi-tabling by Sn1perb0y

I would like to know some tips of how to multi-table MTTs efficiently.
I feel very comfortable playing 2 tables at a time but when it goes above that i feel like i miss a lot of good spots where i can 3 bet steal, or open steal etc..Also i tend to make more mistakes when playing more than 2 tables.
I don't use hot keys so that might be the problem when playing more than 2 tables since it is not needed when play 2 tables..(max tables i played were 4)

Also should I tighten my range more and have my range memorized from each position? When i two table i get to know the dynamics of the table more and play accordingly while when its more than two i tend to loose some information and just play a specific range regardless of players image and table dynamics.

I don't know how people play 8 tables+ i might go crazy if i do so but i want to give it a try.

Any advice would be appreciated, thanx

Basically , the question isn't clear enough

Playing within your br (who actually does this btw?!) It doesn't matter if u are playing 1 table or 20, the whole point is putting in volume

So for example 6 tables x3.50 buy in for one session = the same as 2 tables x 3 x 3.50 in another session

"Playing with in your roll" will obviously get "used up faster" because of volume, but hopefully we move up faster as well with cashes and binks obv

your fucking hilarious.

as for the OP's, the goal should be to move up more so than volume. Its just when we are learning we start to feel like we have nothing more to learn and the game is boring. As we break through these beliefs and see the game for the size it is (prob infinite), we are more and more able to concentrate on a few tables. If I didn't need the volume for income I would rather play 1 table, or none and just study the game.
