reg on reg bvb

Post  JodaB. on Sat Sep 14, 2013 11:36 pm

One of my students, in the sb.  Villain in BB is a reg.  I think there is a mistake, is there something we would do different?

pretty sure we should be jamming the turn here or at least bet something that will look like we are committed to his stack

I like the thoughts, but maybe we should look the ranges and get more specific, most importantly the villains range, and the hero's perceived ranges.

hero's range
Pre ATC, flop ATC

villains range (calling ATC is profitable pre )
during gameplay i would think hes calling something like this

pre-66-22,A7s-A2s,K9s-K2s,Q9s-Q2s,J9s-J8s,T8s+,98s,87s,76s,A9o-A2o,K9o,QTo-Q9o,J9o+,T9o,98o

flop
A7s-A2s,J9s-J8s,A9o-A2o,JTo

This prob why he slowed down, when there should actually be more spew in villains range. regs like to keep us honest so this could be float to steal later. so if we bet 40k ish it looks like we're setting him up and if he jams we can safely fold.(makes us look stronger, reconfirms their range and limits their options)

pre: he could be playing any two here>>>ATC
flop:lets float him to see what he does on the turn >>>ATC
turn: ok no bet, this confirms weaker holdings(66-22,KQs,KTs-K2s,QTs-Q2s,T2s+,92s+,82s+,72s+,62s+,52s+,42s+,32s,KQo,KTo-K2o,QTo-Q2o,T2o+,92o+,82o+,72o+,62o+,52o+,42o+,32o), lets check it back for pot control(just in case its a C/R setup).if not, we maybe can get a bet out him on the river
River: ok no bet again, we have to bet here 100% of the time, VB sizing should do it whether we have it or not.

I think thats great.

Yes we gave the villain an opportunity to float the flop because he knows we are cbetting all our air on the flop.

This is a flop we should double barrel with all our air, sometimes to even fold out jx on the turn.  Even if hero has Jx, he should either bet the turn (value vs flush and weaker jx), or call the river since villain will often show up with air.

So without even seeing my students hand, i suspect he made a mistake.
