Re: math help I think
Just post odds vs hand equity right?
How much to call vs. how much to win?

Re: math help I think
yep, I think so...I am thinking a resteal range of 77+ AJS, AQ+...that might be a bit tight? I have opened a fair bit...so, he may be seeing that.
Should have something like 35-40% equity?
STill playing...so haven't done the math..figured you had nothing better to do and it might help someone else out later

ya this is def homeword for you because you need to be able to do this on the spot in game 100s of times a session. I know you knwo how the math is done (right?) but if you need help with mental short cuts lemme know

Re: math help I think
If I am doing it right...
29k in the pot, 20k to call....
.68, need 32% equity to call?
If my range was (albeit tight) correct, I was only about 30%.. I think his range could be bigger though..maybe 44+,A9s+,KQs,QTs,JTs,T9s,AJo+,KQo, that would give me 34%..
Guess I am ok with fold or call..would have to depend on my perception at the time...in which I think I felt he was pretty strong there and my Q could be dominated by a lot/some of hands that he might jam with?

Re: math help I think
Is it 29k/20k = 1.45 + 1 = 2.45 but then we flip it 1/2.45 = 40%?
I could be wrong but if its correct we can go over the short cuts ways too.

Re: math help I think
hmm..I just did 20/29= .68... leaving 32% needed...I could very well be doing this wrong..and am too wide
In my poor defence...it's been awhile since I did any poker math..lol...and this is off the top of my tin can infused skull...

I don't think thats the math, we have to go the other way, the short cut will actually help you understand.Superman wrote:hmm..I just did 20/29= .68... leaving 32% needed...I could very well be doing this wrong..and am too wide

if the is 100 in the pot and its 50 to call its 2 to our 1.
its always 100% total
33 + 33 + 33 = 100 so 2 to 1 is 66/33
3 to 1 would be 25 + 25 + 25 to 25 so 75/25
That is the idea, its not optimal for me to try to teach it in a single post, but that should jog your memory on the whole thing.
If you are adopting a wider min raise strategy then you need to have this nailed!
There reason is this will become automatic to you they tricky part will be guesing the equity your hand has vs his range (cause we don't always have poker stove)

Re: math help I think
Our pot odds here are basically 3-2 (30k-20k for quick math), so yeah, 60-40..fine, be that way.
At least I had my ranges close for on the fly..lol
